Chachies was founded in 1984 by two women who had great homemade Mexican food recipes. The company had many products, including tortilla chips, spicy carrots, buñuelos and other local favorites around San Diego. Their products were delivered via their own truck and marketing was 100% "word of mouth".

In 1988 the company was bought by a family from Arizona who saw the potential to expand it into a national presence. They cut back to selling only refrigerated salsa (our Mild, Medium and Hot varieties) and sold the product to the large local supermarket and Club Store chains. As the 1990s began, Chachies started moving outside Southern California and became a national leader in 1994.

Chachies is currently found in over 30% of U.S. grocery stores. Refrigerated Salsa (under all brand names) is sold in something like 40%. You can generally find Chachies products in the Dairy case, the Deli case (near the bologna, etc.) or in the Service Deli. Each city is different, so ask your grocer where to find it in the store.

Today, Chachies Salsa is part of Sabra Dipping Company, LLC. Sabra is the leading manufacturer of refrigerated salsa as well as hummus. We sell salsas under leading brand names including Chachies® and Santa Barbara Salsa™. Hummus is sold under the Sabra brand.
